To start the year, we begin with review of the factor families from 1 to 144. This is the firm foundation we need all students to be fluent in before we move on to more complex multiplication processes. We need to understand the reason we use methods like multiplication and division, and how the two relate to one another. It is then that we can move onward and connect those processes with Area of rectangles and squares, and within common fractions.

We begin our unit on Geometry the first week back from Winter Break. We're going to be covering so many new topics in this unit, it will be very important to keep practicing what you're learning otherwise, you'll lose it!

Our first lesson will surround the third dimension. We've learned X and Y as length and height, but now we have a Z measurement, which adds depth.
